TIMELINE OF A TOWN: CHAFFEY FESTIVAL RETURNS TO MILDURA IN 2025
Celebrating Where the River Meets the Rails

Mildura will once again honour its proud heritage with the return of the Chaffey Festival on the weekend of Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June 2025, an event that brings together community, culture and the unique history of the region.

This year’s theme, Timeless Tracks & River Currents – where the river meets the rails,” shines a spotlight on the important role transport, both river and rail, has played in the development of Mildura and the surrounding district. From paddle steamers to the arrival of the railway, the festival explores the journeys that helped shape a thriving inland community.

Now in its second year, the festival continues to grow as a regional celebration of innovation, storytelling and local pride. With a mix of community driven activities, historical presentations and immersive experiences, there’s something for all ages and interests.

“This is a celebration not to be missed. The Chaffey Festival is a reminder of who we are, where we’ve come from and the vision that continues to shape our future,” said Mark Eckel, Chairperson of the Chaffey Trail Reference Group. “It’s a chance for locals and visitors alike to come together and enjoy something really special.”

“We’re so proud to offer a festival that brings history to life and encourages community connection,” said Michelle Woodhouse, Project Officer and Event Coordinator. “The river and rail have played such a vital role in shaping this region and it’s exciting to share that story with a broader audience.”

The weekend will feature a curated selection of events and experiences that bring the stories of our past to life, including a Murray River dinner cruise, and a local film matinee. All events aim to inspire reflection and connection to the people, places and progress that have defined Mildura’s legacy.
